BET Awards set to air on Sunday night from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, we thought long and hard before we decided to make any predictions. The show is produced by BET Networks, touted as the nation's leading provider of quality entertainment, music, news and public affairs television programming for the African-American audience. Jackson's Mountaintop co-star, Angela Bassett, and "The Help" star Viola Davis are among the nominees for Best Actress.









Also nominated for awards are Don Cheadle (Topdog/Underdog), Usher (Chicago), Beyoncé ("Dreamgirls"), Mary J. Blige ("Rock of Ages"), Chris Brown, Kobe Bryant, Common, Jay-Z, Bruno Mars, Rihanna, Willow Smith and Kanye West, among others.


Singers Brown and Nicki Minaj are among the performers at the 2012 awards ceremony, which begins at 8 PM ET.
Jackson also appeared on Broadway in The Piano Lesson. An Academy Award nominee for "Pulp Fiction," his other screen credits include "The Sunset Limited," the "Iron Man" films, "Freedomland," "Snakes on a Plane," the "Star Wars" prequels, "The Incredibles," "Unbreakable," "The Negotiator," "Jackie Brown," "Eve's Bayou" and "Jurassic Park," among others.
